2009 Recap

2009 was a great year for us and I have decided to document all of our great experiences in this blog! Hopefully I didn't miss anything :)


We welcomed the new year by riding the Front Runner to Salt Lake City and celebrated at Port O' Call.

A few days into the new year, we went to Las Vegas for the weekend before I started school again. Spring 2009 semester was my second semester of nursing school at the University of Utah.

While in Las Vegas, we stayed at the New York New York Hotel. We had a great time shopping, dining out and walking on the strip.

On April 11, we celebrated Spencer's 24 birthday! His birthday was the day before Easter so his family had an easter egg hunt.

I was able to see my FAVORITE singer Britney Spears with some of the girls from my class, Kylee and Tiffany! We made pink Britney Spears shirts and ate at the Spaghetti factory before the show. The show was awesome! The opening act was the Pussycat Dolls.

Just after the semester ended, we went to the No Doubt concert with the Jones'. It was a great concert! I've been a huge No Doubt fan for years, it was fun to be able to finally see them in concert!

On June 6 (my birthday) we set sail on a cruise to Costa Rica, panama and Belize. It was an 8 day cruise, we went with Tyler and Lindsay Jones and Trevor and Jenny Hirst.

Spencer proposed at dinner on the first night of the cruise!!! It was a great beginning to our 'engagement cruise'!

We were able to see the Panama Canal while in Panama.

It was sooo nice to be able to just lay out in the sun all day. Yes Spencer is wearing a speedo ;)

Right after we got home from our cruise we went to Lake Powell for a week. I had never been there, so I was really looking forward to the trip!

We had a great time laying out, kayaking, tubing, etc.

We also did some painting around the house, I think the dining room turned out great!

We also took the dogs up to Spencer's parent's cabin at Bear Lake a few times. Presley didn't love the water right away, but she got the hang of it and really enjoyed herself. :)

We took the 4- wheelers out a few times, so much fun!

In October, I was able to get away from my studies for a few hours and was able to carve pumpkins with our friends.

After the hardest semester of my college career ended (also known as third semester), me and some of my classmates celebrated by going to a couple bars/clubs in Salt Lake City.

We ended the year by celebrating the Holidays with our families.

On January 11 I will be starting my fourth semester of Nursing school and my final semester of college!! It is going to be a tough one, I will be interning at Mckay Dee hospital on the post partum unit. I am so excited to be at Mckay Dee, hopefully they will hire me once I graduate ;) I graduate in early May and next up... our wedding! We are getting married on June 26, at the Ogden Union Station! The wedding is pretty much all planned already, we are just finishing up the details and we are still looking over honeymoon locations :)

The Holidays

I am getting SO excited for Christmas! I've already done some shopping and started wrapping presents! We put up our tree and decorations the day after Thanksgiving :) This will be mine and Spencer's second Christmas together and also our second Christmas living together! For Thanksgiving, our two families got together at the Mumford household in Draper, it was nice to have everyone together and not have to go to multiple houses. This was the first year that I have contributed to the meal, I made homemade macaroni and cheese and I thought it was delicious!

This weekend we went to see the Christmas lights in downtown Ogden with my family. They all came to Ogden on the Front Runner. We went to dinner then walked to the park. We had a great time even though it was freezing! We forgot to grab beenies for ourselves and luckily there was an arts and crafts sale at the Union Station, so we both got new beenies! Unfortunately, Spencer left his out at home and Butch got a hold of it...... Well school is almost out and then I will have a few weeks off to do some more wedding planning. Then I will start up again on January11th....but it will be my last semester! I am soooo close to being done with school and becoming a Registered Nurse! I can't wait to start working as a nurse, I am hoping to work in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) one day, but I am planning on beginning on a maternity floor. I have come to realize that I really love working with newborns, they are so sweet, tiny and innocent, I just love them. :) Sick newborns need the helping and caring hand of a nurse and I want to be the one to help them get a start on life!

What have we been up to??

Wow! I haven't posted anything all summer, so what have Lauren and Spencer been up to...
well in June we went on a cruise with our friends to Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize! The cruise was amazing! It was 8 days of fun in the sun :)
We loved getting dressed up every night for dinner and spending the days on the deck just laying out.






















The ports were awesome, in Costa Rica we went zip lining, and on a boat tour on the Tortuguero River. In Panama we saw the Panama Canal and in Belize we spent the day on a private island. The island was beautiful!










And what was the best part of the cruise??? Spencer proposed!!!!! It was at dinner on the first night of the cruise, and I had no idea that it was coming! It was so romantic :0)










In July, we went to Lake Powell with the Jones' for a week, I had never been there so I was really excited. We spent our days tubing, wake boarding, laying out and hiking on the beaches.
















We also went to Spencer's parent's cabin at Bear Lake a few times. We were able to take the dogs to the lake, which was tons of fun! The first time we went Presley was afraid of the water and wouldn't go near it, but the second time we went up there she loved it! It was hilarious, she was just running around the beach and in the water, she had a blast! And Butch of course loved every minute up at the cabin, he loves the water and exploring the neighborhood around the cabin.





We also painted a few walls over the summer, we painted 2 walls brown and the master bathroom pink!!











We loved the four wheeling this summer! we went both times that we went up to the cabin. I never knew how dirty you could get on them!











Then we ended the summer by going to Jamie and Andy's wedding on August 20th! It was a great wedding, we are so happy for them!!

Now that summer is over, Lauren is back in school full-time and Spencer is back to work. Only one more year of nursing school and I'll be done!!!

No DoUbT CoNcErT

On Memorial Day, me, Spencer and Tyler and Lindsay went to the No Doubt Concert. Before the concert we all went to breakfast, then we got supplies to make our No Doubt poster(which turned out really cute, but we ended up forgetting it in the car), after that we went back home to get ready for the concert! We got to the E-center a little early so we decided to go to Chili's for dinner :) When we got to the E-center we had a separate entrance because Lindsay got us VIP tickets, so we pretty much just walked right in, no line, no waiting, it was awesome! We got into the E-center before the crowds so we just walked around and bought some memorabilia before the show started.


The show started around 7:30, me and Lindsay were so excited! The opening act was The Sounds, followed by Paramore. Both were awesome!!









But our favorite was NO DOUBT!! They played for about two hours and were just amazing! The set was all white and they all wore white for the first few songs, but Gwen Stefani changed outfits a few times. The first song they sang was Spiderwebs (an oldie but goodie) and the last song was Stand and Deliver.

Overall the show was great!

Cabin at Bear Lake

The first weekend of May, me, Spencer and his parents went up to their cabin at Bear Lake to celebrate his dad graduating with his phd! go Mark! So me, Spencer, Presley and Butch packed all our stuff into the car and made the drive up there on friday (after I took 2 of my finals earlier that day).








It was such a nice, relaxing weekend. We just layed around the whole time, we were going to ride the 4-wheelers but it ended up raining all weekend. But that was ok, because I needed to study for my finals.










Even though it was raining, Spencer and his parents took all the dogs for walks( Presley, Butch and Copper), while I stayed behind and studied.










I even let Presley outside without her leash! I was terrified that she would wander too far and I would lose her forever, but she always came back :)

We had a great weekend and came back on Sunday so that Spencer could return to work and I had to finish up all my finals.

Britney Spears concert

Well I don't really know how to organize pictures on here... Anyways last night me and some girls from school went to the Britney Spears concert with the opener Pussycat Dolls! A few days before the show we all got together and made cute Britney shirts, which by the way were way cuter than any of the shirts that we could have bought at the show. So before the show we met up at The Spaghetti Factory and had some yummy dinner and then rode the trax down to the Energy solution arena. It had been raining all day but that didn't damper our moods! we were so excited! And the concert ended up being the best concert I've ever been to! I loved every minute of it! The only part that disappointed me was the fact that Spencer wasn't there with me :( but it was a girls night so he didn't end up going with us. But it was a great night!
